Why the world has money

December 19, 2008 The Venus Project | 11 Comments

Why the Venus Project must destroy humanity to create a perfect world for humans

Dollars are money, but money is not dollars. Gold is money, but money is not gold. How do I explain these apparent contradictions? Simple, there is a one-to-many relationship between money and things we use for money. Referring to dollars as a form of money is technically accurate, but referring to money as dollars is not sufficient to describe all the properties of money — it limits the definition to dollars. Money is anything we use to trade for what we want. It’s a store of purchasing power. It’s something people either want, or will accept, in exchange for their property or labor. Sometimes money is a physical object, sometimes not. Not all forms of money are equal.

Should the government try to stabilize house prices?

December 19, 2008 Economic Collapse, Politics | Leave a Comment

What if the government was actually able to create some magic program to target the bulk of its money printing effort towards the residential real estate market and suddenly inventories started to drop and house prices stabilized, would it even matter? The stock market would probably rally, the airwaves would probably be filled with people forecasting the next long bull market, every government official would credit his brilliant economic policy, but would it last?

Finally, the Iraqi George Washington?

George Bush shoes

George Bush once asked why they couldn’t find any Iraqi “founding fathers”. Have we just located the first qualified candidate? They should put this guy on their money. This is the perfect ending to the Bush presidency, sums it up quite nicely.

History will record Mr Bush’s last trip to Iraq, a country his government has left such an indelible mark upon, was greeted with a volley of shoes and a cry of ‘dog’

The coming raid of Canada’s treasury

November 29, 2008 Economic Collapse, Politics | 2 Comments

The developments in Canada these past few days are outrageous. I believe we may be about to witness the wholesale fleecing of a nation’s wealth by stealth coup, in a first world democracy. The unholy alliance of liberals, socialists and separatists with no aim other than to empty the treasury by flooding the country will billions of dollars, to be paid by future generations (with their freedom?).

Venus Project, or 1984 on steroids?

November 21, 2008 The Venus Project, Videos | 36 Comments

Is this perhaps what would be required to impose the Venus Project on the world? Who knows. Just watch and learn. I strongly recommend the book, it had a significant influence on my thinking at a young age. Also, Frederick Hayek’s “The Road to Serfdom“.

Am I polarizing, or is that just how people are?

November 21, 2008 Politics | 2 Comments

It amuses me to no end how the vast majority of ratings my articles receive are either 1 star or 5 stars. Am I really that controversial or do people just naturally divide into 2 groups? (Is there actually something to this 2-party system nonsense?) I don’t know the answer, but I thought I would share a few brief thoughts.

Is the delusion of hope and Obamanomics worthwhile?

November 6, 2008 Economic Collapse, Politics | Leave a Comment

Many people are pleased with the election of Obama, but I have observed that most of the blindly hopeful are also blindly clueless as to the true nature of the various crises afflicting the United States. My question I suppose is whether it matters — can psychology alone cure these problems?

If software developers ruled the world

November 4, 2008 Politics, Trends | 11 Comments

Yesterday I discussed the incredible benefits of open source software in terms of reducing costs for startups and promoting competition in the marketplace… but the real magic of software is the concept of abstraction, it’s when a developer can consume a service using a single stable interface regardless of how the producer chooses to implement the service behind the scenes. The multitude of choices in the software realm (compounded by the open source world) necessitates standard interfaces for these components. I wonder if other industries could also benefit from similar ideas.
