I’ve been a bit overwhelmed with the comments to a few posts, that feature of a blog is really better used to comment on the post itself rather than to carry out a longer-term discussion. So please use the forum when you get the urge. There is a link at the top right of the page.
Update: Some more housekeeping, the first anniversary of this blog is coming up soon and almost 200 posts later it’s becoming difficult to find some of the excellent material buried in the archives, so I am going to re-categorize many of the posts and they will appear under the “topics” section on the right most column (under the search box).

ok, so I gave it the old non-college educated try and was unable to fill out the log-in thingy properly. As far as the car industry or any industry goes, I am beginning to think that principles mean very little in the real world. I think you and I would both like a more libertarian world where personal responsibility and natural consequences reign. But we are very far from that ideal and I doubt that ideal has ever functioned entirely.
Further, since we have never seen libertarian principles employed, we really can’t be sure they would work in the real world.
It seems the best we humans can do is muck around with current problems today and then deal with the unintended consequences tomorrow.
