The insurgent candidacy continues

There are too many people on the major social news sites mocking Ron Paul for finishing 5th in the Iowa caususes yesterday. I couldn’t disagree with their sentiment more, and I question whether they are even conservatives to begin with.

He barely campaigned in Iowa and was never expected to win. His trouncing of Rudy Giuliani and competitive finish with respect to John McCain and Fred Thompson is actually a remarkably good sign heading into New Hampshire, a much more Libertarian state.

There is no comparison with Howard Dean that is relevant. Ron Paul was polling in the single digits and finished higher with 10% — Howard Dean was projected to win Iowa and his support collapsed just before the primary.

Ron Paul still has strong support and it’s growing. Time is on his side because economic conditions will only deteriorate this year and his solutions are the only credible ideas being offered by any candidate of either party.

Let me add the following — the almost media blackout! When the guy isn’t being ignored he’s being mocked by the mainstream press and he gets almost no airtime at the debates. The fact that he got 10% of the vote despite all the haters and all the people lined up against him is astounding. These losers who are disrespecting Ron Paul today probably voted for Hillary Clinton anyway — it’s just a bunch of insiders trying to sabotage his popularity — for a real supporter of these ideas, it’s Ron Paul or nothing.
