Seven years of flaming Bush… not one useful law.

As we begin the annual process of reviewing the year that was and preparing for the year that begins, I thought it would be painfully interesting to re-live the past 7 years of Bush. Keep your spirits up, just one more to go… hopefully.

1. Donald Rumsfeld: the military you have, freedom is messy, unknown unknowns
2. Alberto Gonzales: I don’t recall, Ashcroft hospital bed
3. Dick Cheney: energy policy, secret visits by oil executives
4. Condi Rice: Bin Laden determined to attack in US
5. Scooter Libby: Valerie Plame, sentence commutation
6. George Tenet: intelligence failure, slam dunk, medal of freedom
7. John Bolton: UN ambassador?
8. Christie Todd Whitman: declares ground zero safe for cleanup
9. Doug Feith: cooked intelligence, the Office of Strategic Planning
10. Porter Goss: CIA gutted, internal unrest, low morale
11. Attempts to torpedo the 911 Commission then failure to implement their recommendations
12. Pre-emptive war doctrine
13. Iraq: 16 words, looting, General Shinseki, too few troops, body armor, humvees, unsecured Iraqi munitions, disbanding the Iraqi army, banning Baathists, the CPA, Paul Bremer, Abu Ghraib, literally losing billions of dollars, sectarian parties, weak constitution, weak government, strong militias, Ahmad Chalabi, nobody guarding the borders, Saddam’s hanging video, Pat Tillman, Jessica Lynch, Blackwater (civilian contractors) slaughtering Iraqi civilians with no accountability, Walter Reed military hospital, millions of Iraqi refugees, hundreds of thousands of Iraqis dead, thousands of soldiers dead, tens of thousands injured
14. Afghanistan: failure to catch Bin Laden, resurgent Taliban, opium production, Bagram airbase
15. Guantanamo Bay
16. Iran: incessant threats, covert attempts to overthrow the government
17. AIPAC espionage scandal: former DOD employee Lawrence Franklin pleads guilty to passing information about Iran to Israel through two AIPAC employees
18. Abandoning mid-east peace efforts
19. Supporting Israel while it destroyed Lebanon
20. North Korea: ditching the 1994 agreement because of dubious uranium program, the plutonium program which led to a fizzled first nuclear test, then a return to something like the 1994 agreement
21. Withdrawal from ABM Treaty
22. Loss of civil liberties: The Patriot Act, the Patriot Act extension, The Military Commissions Act, torture, water-boarding, indefinite detention, the end of habeas corpus, kangaroo courts, black prisons and extraordinary rendition
23. Loss of privacy: NSA wiretapping, SWIFT surveillance of financial transactions, right to open US mail
24. Budget: deficits don’t matter, vastly increased national debt, new entitlements with no ability to fund them, missile defense shield that doesn’t work
25. Economy: trade deficit, NASDAQ bubble burst leads to 1% interest rate for 3 years which creates a real estate bubble, sub-prime mortgages, real estate bubble bursts, debasement of the US dollar
26. Election fraud: 2000 Presidential election, 2004 Presidential election, hanging chads, Diebold, electronic voting with no paper trail
27. Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the destruction of New Orleans, and the aftermath, heck of a job Brownie, George Bush hates black people
28. K Street Lobbyists, Jack Abramoff, North Marianas
29. Armstrong Williams: paid propagandist
30. EPA: mercury levels for coal plants
31. Vetoing stem cell research
32. Dubai Ports deal
33. Fired US attorneys
